I just saw the news that we lost Duncan Sheik yesterday and wanted to write a few words.
Probably best known for his massive tune “Barely Breathing,” which became a staple of late-90s radio and TV (and was my go-to karaoke song for years), Sheik released a series of excellent albums into the early 2000s before turning his talents to movie scores and Broadway.
If “Breathing” is your only reference to Duncan’s music, it would be time well spent digging into his back catalog, particularly my two favorites from his discography: Humming and Daylight.
